Daily Alert – Tuesday 16th May 2023: Fed voters discuss holding steady, or not
Yesterday saw three Fed voters give their positions on future hiking. Neel Kashkari said there was more work (i.e., hiking) to do. Austin Goolsbee and Raphael Bostic seem set on holding steady.
The UK reported an increase of 47,000 unemployment claimants when a reduction of 11,000 was expected. Ouch.
I placed no trades yesterday. The risk sentiment spreadsheet said things were positive but really, they were indecisive.
Risk sentiment right now is indecisive.
There are lots of interesting GDP, Retail Sales and inflation data from various territories coming up later.
I’ll be back tomorrow.
