Daily Alert – Wednesday 30th March 2022: Markets unconvinced by Russian de-escalation

Good morning.

Yesterday saw Russian mediator Vladimir Medinsky announcing the de-escalation of attacks around Kyiv. Markets initially reacted positively, and assets did what they do when we are risk-on, but it didn’t last, and we ended the day with indecisive and conflicting sentiment. There was little on the calendar to move the markets. This is not conducive to trading.

Today sees US GDP and German inflation.

As predicted, it has been and may continue to be quiet into month-end on Thursday.

But we watch and wait, spending a few minutes every day looking at the charts and doing a bit of reading. When the opportunities arise, we will see them.

We’ll be back tomorrow.
