Monthly and YTD Performance: April 2022, -1.63%

April was a difficult month. I placed six trades, with only 1 winner. I had three losers and two breakeven. The result was a loss of 1.63 percent.

The twin themes of the war in Ukraine and, more importantly from a trading perspective, the seemingly endless doubling down by central bankers (excluding the ECB) on their plans to combat inflation via interest rate hikes, made conditions very difficult.

Year-to-date (YTD) shows a gain of 26.0 percent. My YTD win/lose ratio has dropped to 64 percent from March’s 80 percent, against a target of >60 percent. My YTD reward/risk ratio (size of gain vs size of risk) is very similar to the March number of 1.39 against a target of 1.00 (adjusted from last year’s 2.00 due to doubling of stop loss and risk size).

March was one of the best months ever and April is a reality check.

Onwards and upwards.

The video contains more information on the rationale for these trades and their management. This is a great learning resource. There’s always something to learn from this kind of post-event review.
