Weekly Review: Friday 1st February 2019

A positive week with the S&P500 returning its best January performance in over 30 years. US/China trade talks conclude with Trump and Lighthizer talking up their progress. The Fed maintain their new “cautious” tone and allude to maybe slowing the unwinding of QE, adding to the dovish tone. Brexit continues with Theresa being sent back into battle with Brussels. The markets react negatively to the failure to pass a delaying bill and the GBP is down on the week. Risk sentiment is dampened towards the end of the week by a poor Manufacturing PMI from China adding to the confirmation bias on the chances of a global slow down.

My one trade, S&P500 long, is almost 1x risk in profit as the week nears a close.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
