Mark Nugent Daily Alert, March 2019

Weekly Review: Friday 29th February 2019

A strange week. We were set up for risk-on sentiment after the positive noises over the weekend on the US/China trade talks. But it never happened, at least not from an equity point of view. The JPY was down for most of the week, GOLD fell. But US equities hardly moved. Things were a bit better in Europe and Japan, the latter bolstered by the weak JPY.

Maybe it was the failure of the Trump/Kim summit in Vietnam?

Having said all that, my S&P500 long that I opened in week 7 closed for a gain of around 1.75% and my GBPUSD long, opened this week, closed for a gain of 3.0%, giving year-to-date performance of 13.6%.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
