Weekly Review: Friday 9th November 2018

A week dominated by the US midterm elections and then, to a lesser degree, by the Fed Funds Rate and Statement. Global equities rose over the week (excluding the UK) but it was an up then down movement meaning that we stayed out of the market when it was rising and entered just before it dropped. Ho hum. My Nasdaq long was taken out today at breakeven.

Oil tumbles and there is an OPEC meeting this Sunday to increase production so I think Goldman Sach’s forecast of a rise in oil prices through to Christmas is looking shaky.

In forex, the USD and the Antipodeans rose, all others fell. The anticipated GBP rise did not come but it will, it will!

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
